Founded in 1957 in North Bay, Ontario, Canada as a supplier of machinery, industrial parts and service, R.A. Warren Equipment Ltd. has evolved to become a well known manufacturer of machinery and service for, tunneling, mining and related industries.
The company successfully introduced its battery powered mining & tunneling locomotive line in 1988. At present, there are units in operation ranging in size from 3.5 to 30 tons. Our latest production locomotives are designed to accomodate customer requirements for narrow, low profile locomotives for tunneling, mining and other operations. These locomotives range in size from 3.5 to 25 tons. Complementing these locomotives is a comprehensive range of Mosfet and IGBT Battery Locomotive Controllers.
Warren manufactures diesel, trolley, battery and combination battery/trolley locomotives. In 2000, Warren built the NexTec1 Battery Locomotive for the Fuelcell Propulsion Institute to be used to demonstrate the first application of Fuelcell Power to underground mining and tunneling. Successful tests were conducted underground at the Canmet Experimental Mine in, Val D'Or, Quebec and at a production gold mine. (Further testing is continuing.)
Other manufactured equipment includes; flat cars, timber trucks, personnel carriers, rocker dump cars, muck cars and car dumper mechanisms. Warren will also custom manufacture segment and grout cars for tunneling as well as conveyor equipment and other related assemblies.
